Do not worry! This is the still the same website that is updated by Kelli, just with a different look to it! I have done two things to make my website more user friendly:
- Updated my buttons on my home page.
- Changed my theme of the entire website
I had multiple reasons for this update which included making it more user friendly and keeping up with the time. I felt that my website was very dark which at the time it represented who I was; however, I have changed within this past year. I always want to make sure that my website represented who I am as a person. Hearing my personality through my words is just as important as the look of the website. My website is the face of who I am and the words on here are my details like my eyes, mouth, and nose.
The photo below is the darker themed I had before my update:
When I first created this website, I was going through a time of finding myself and again. I was sad which reflected in the picture.
Deeping thinking about different things will always be who I am, so that will never change. However, there are certain things that changed throughout the semester, like passing my stats class for my psychology major. I have been working on my mental health and physical health as well. Learning about different diagnoses, means that I can understand who I am better at a deeper level.
Now, this is what my website looks like:
I decided to keep calling it “The Wisdom Well” because I am still going to keep this website school related for when I use it down the road. I also decided to keep “Pondering Thoughts” because I always have thoughts in my head that I do not always say out loud.
I am sure that the first thing you notice between the two is that this one is way brighter and modern compared to the top image. I feel as though I have matured more than I thought I did, but comparing the two, I definitely matured. Having different themes changed the entire vibe of the website and it is the first thing people will notice even before the words.
I also made my buttons on the homepage interactive. I used the hover effect that is offered on WordPress which is a website creator. That way people are able to hover over the buttons so they know they are clickable and will take them to different places.

Follow along with these 7 simple steps in writing:
- Go to your back end of the website
- Hover over “appearance”, then click “themes”
- Click “Add Themes”
- In the search bar, type “Graceful Halo”
- Click “Activate”
- Click “Customize”
- Make sure to save
This video to the will show you how to make enactive buttons. (Without Sound)
Follow along with these steps in writing:
- Go to your back end of the website
- Hover over “plugins”, then click “add plugin”
- In the search plug in bar, type “Hover Effect”
- Find the icon that looks like a school with a flag on it
- Click “install now”, then “activate”
- Click “settings” and find a transition you like by hovering over the square.
- Click on the one you want
- It will atomactally save to your clipboard
- Open which ever page you need the effect button
- Click edit page, NOT customize
- Click each induvial button you need the effect on
- Paste the phrase that was copied to your clipboard under “Additional CSS Classes”
- Save
Being able to use effects for button and changing themes to match who you are makes your own website more personalized and user friendly will help your audience easy to navigate your website. It will help with usability and utility of your website. Redesigning your website will help reduce friction and limit distractions. Making your post easy to navigate so it is E for Everyone.
